L’histoire de Souleymane follows Souleymane, a recent Guinean immigrant, through the streets of Paris as he prepares for his asylum application interview while working as a food delivery courier. This film spans the 48 hours leading up to this crucial interview and shows the reality that many immigrants face trying to gain legal status in a country which consistently puts barriers to their entry. This story is based on the lead actor’s own experience trying to live in France coming from Guinea. Abou Sangaré also received the Best Male revelation prize at the 2025 César awards, and L’histoire de Souleymane received the jury prize at the Festival de Cannes 2024 as well as best original screenplay at the 2025 César awards.
